TG-60/TN-60 - LED Board Replacement

Replacing an LED board in a lighting fixture involves removing a few parts, disconnecting the old board from the socket, and installing a new compatible board. It’s a straightforward task but requires care to avoid damaging components or wiring.

An LED might need to be replaced for a couple of reasons, including:

  • Burnout or failure: Although LEDs have a long lifespan, they can still fail due to overheating from an electrical surge or water intrusion.
  • Flickering: If an LED light starts to flicker, it may not indicate a bad LED board, so we advise proper testing before replacement. Learn More

1

Tools Required: #2 Phillips screwdriver, 3⁄32" Allen key, and a soft-edged pry device (e.g., small flathead screwdriver).

2

Turn off the power to the lighting transformer completely before disassembling the fixture.

3

Remove the screws from the faceplate with a 3⁄32"  Allen key.

4

Remove the Faceplate, Gasket, Wash Blinds, and the Lens Assembly, then set aside.

5

Remove any Film Optic (if installed) and Beam Angle Lens by turning counterclockwise and lifting them off the reflector.

6

Remove the three Screws holding the reflector and LED board in place. Remove the reflector.

7

The LED board can now be removed. Using a small, soft-edged pry device, gently pry up on one side of the board. Ensure the base of the reflector where the LED was removed is clear of debris or residual thermal pad material.

8

Once the LED board has been removed, reverse the removal steps to install the replacement board. Before starting, confirm that the fixture is compatible with the selected LED board, as not all boards fit every fixture. Remove any residue left by the old board to ensure a clean surface for installation. Each FX Luminaire LED board includes a thermal pad on the bottom — do not remove it.
