For predictable, high-performance lamp life, supply the fixture per the lamp manufacturer's requirements. For halogen lamps, supply 10.5 to 11.5 VAC. For LED lamps supply 11-15 VAC.

Pound STAKE into the ground and level.
Thread on the LOCK RING. Do not tighten.
Thread fixture into the stake by turning clockwise. Tighten down included LOCK RING to position the aim of the fixture. Coil extra wire for future servicing.
Loosens SCREW on the side of fixture (depending on the fixture, this could be a flathead or Phillips screw). Adjust the fixture direction and tighten the screw.
Use a VOLTMETER to ensure proper AC voltage at the fixture. For halogen lamps, supply 10.5 to 11.5 VAC. For LED lamps supply 11-15 VAC.
