Replacing an LED board in a lighting fixture involves removing a few parts, disconnecting the old board from the socket, and installing a new compatible board. It’s a straightforward task but requires care to avoid damaging components or wiring.
Tools Required:
- #2 Philips screwdriver
- 2.5mm Allen Key
- Soft-edged pry device (e.g., small flathead screwdriver)
- Needle-Nose pliers
Turn off power to the fixture completely before disassembling.
Remove the four 6-32 x ½" screws from the faceplate with a #2 Phillips screwdriver.
The top LED holder will drop straight down for LED board access.
Remove the strain relief connector with a pair of needle-nose pliers.
Push socket end approximately ¼" backward to allow room for LED board removal.
Once the LED board is successfully removed, perform this procedure backward to reinstall the replacement LED board. Not all boards will fit in every fixture, so ensure the fixture can accommodate the selected board prior to maintenance. Also, remove any residue left on the fixture from the old LED board prior to installation of the new one. A thermal pad is attached to the bottom of all FX Luminaire LED boards and should be left in place. Compatible LED boards for this fixture include:
